Maruti 1000 | Movie 'The Car'

 

Introduced in 1989, the Maruti 1000 was India’s first modern sedan with a 970 cc, three-box design. It garnered immense popularity, leading to long waiting lists for buyers. Known for its impressive power-to-weight ratio in the under two-liter class, it became a favorite among rally drivers. In 1994, the car was upgraded with a 1.3-liter engine and rebranded as the Maruti Esteem. 

Notably, the car in the images was featured in the Malayalam comedy movie The Car. Production officially ended in 2000.
