Premier Padmini Starline Safari Station Wagon | Movie 'Umbartha'

The Fiat Premier Padmini was one of the most popular cars of its time. Known as the Fiat Premier Padmini Safari, it was India’s first station wagon, launched in 1973. Manufactured by a Mumbai-based coach-building company called Starline Motors, it was powered by a 40-PS, four-cylinder petrol engine. However, it was later discontinued due to poor market response.

Starline Motors, a prominent Bombay dealership at the time, specialized in building custom bodies on 'drive-away chassis.' A Premier Padmini Starline 'Safari' station wagon conversion can be seen in the 1982 Marathi movie Umbartha

Notable features include accessory sleeker bumpers without guards, a roof rack, strips on the roof, and the Starline badge positioned on the rear fender.
