Heavily Modified Maruti Suzuki Gypsy I Movie 'Thaskaraveeran'

It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t know what a Humvee is. While the Hummer H2 and H3 were massive off-road monsters, General Motors had a new vision in 2008: to create a more compact, affordable, and youthful Hummer. The result? The Hummer HX, a bold and game-changing concept that never made it to production.

While watching the Malayalam film Thaskaraveeran, I was left speechless by a heavily modified vehicle used in an intense chase scene to introduce Mammootty’s character. At first glance, one could immediately tell it was a heavily modified Maruti Gypsy—but then something caught my eye. The vehicle's uncanny resemblance to the Hummer HX concept was impossible to ignore. Here’s the kicker: Thaskaraveeran was released in 2005, three years before the Hummer HX made its debut. I couldn’t help but think, “How is that possible?”

Now, let’s compare the Hummer HX with this customized Gypsy. The modifications are jaw-dropping. The front bumper has been completely reworked with a bull bar and skid plates, giving it a menacing, off-road warrior look. But the real magic is in the details—the headlights are now square, the grille is extended, and the overall front end exudes power and presence, much like the Hummer HX. The design uses a mix of bold square and rectangular elements, creating an aggressive, muscular aesthetic that’s impossible to overlook.

The bonnet is raised to add height, and the windscreen is chopped to match the Hummer's signature style. And that rear end? A sleek, sloping roof completes the transformation, making this Gypsy a stunning tribute to the Hummer HX, or perhaps even a twist on it.
