Based on the Leyland 20 van, it featured a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine that produced around 60 bhp, paired with a four-speed gearbox.

The Standard 20 was typically configured as a 10-seater making it a practical choice for group travel. Its sturdy build and reliable performance earned it popularity in challenging terrains.

This van was also featured in the 2013 Malayalam movie Idukki Gold, where it was used by a group of friends for their nostalgic journey from Thrissur to Idukki. Adding some screen captures from the movie could help evoke the nostalgia associated with this classic van.
