Mahindra Jeep Modified | Movie 'Summer in Bethlehem'

While watching the classic Malayalam movie Summer in Bethlehem , I noticed a heavily customized Jeep featured in the film. The vehicle is portrayed as belonging to the farmhouse owner, a character pivotal to the story. Upon closer observation, the Jeep appears to be a modified version of the Mahindra MM540 DP. The front end has been reworked with rectangular headlamps, a grille, and a bumper sourced from the Mahindra Armada. The bonnet stands out with its unconventional cuts and creases, along with an additional light mounted on it. Another intriguing detail is the "Lensman" sticker on the windshield—a common sight on vehicles in many Malayalam movies from that era. Perhaps it was a trending term at the time, or it might hint that the vehicle was provided by a team or company associated with the name. Lambretta API 175 Auto Rickshaw | Movie 'Digvijayam'

Lambretta, a name synonymous with iconic scooters, also made its mark in the three-wheeler segment through the API 175 Auto Rickshaw, featured in the 1980 Malayalam film "Digvijayam." Manufactured by Automobile Products of India (API), which was the first Indian scooter maker, these auto rickshaws were originally assembled from Innocenti kits and marketed under the Lambretta brand. Competing against the well-established Bajaj models, the API three-wheeler gained popularity and remains operational in various regions, especially in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, showcasing the lasting impact of this classic vehicle on Indian transportation. Mahindra Armada | Movie 'Company'

The Mahindra Armada, launched in 1992, marked a turning point for the brand as it transitioned from traditional Jeep designs to a more modern MUV. Built on the WWII Willys Jeep heritage, the Armada was a step forward from the MM540 Metal Body Wagon and became Mahindra’s first vehicle to adopt a proper name instead of a numerical code. It debuted with an innovative advance booking scheme, drawing 14,000 orders right away. The iconic front fascia of the Armada was crafted by Dileep Chhabria of DC Designs, adding a distinctive touch. In 1994, the Armada received a significant upgrade, introducing features like an air-conditioner, laminated windscreen, radial tyres, front disc brakes, and halogen headlamps, making it more appealing to a broader audience. While the Armada gained popularity, production delays in ramping up to meet the booking demand allowed the Tata Sumo to capture market attention.
