The Premier Padmini estate/station wagon was a distinctive vehicle, with some models built by Starline in Mumbai during the 1970s and 80s. Premier Automobiles Limited offered a "drive-away chassis"—a vehicle without the rear portion of the body—allowing customers to create utility vehicles tailored to their specific needs. Starline Motors, a prominent dealership in Bombay at the time, was known for crafting custom bodies on these chassis.
While Starline was a key player, not all station wagon conversions were their work. Several local bodybuilders also created similar designs, adding their own touches to meet customer requirements.
A notable example of such a conversion is the Premier President station wagon, seen in the 1975 Bollywood movie Uljhan.
